The 4th International Conference of Transdisciplinary Research on Environmental Problems in Southeast Asia (TREPSEA) was held as an online conference from September 16 to 18 and the participants addressed the important themes of “Managing Ecological Risks and Natural Disasters in Southeast Asia: Challenges for Food Security, Public Health, and Economic Welfare”.
On September 16, 2021, the opening ceremony was held at 9:00 am (Jakarta time). First and foremost, the Indonesia national anthem was played before the opening event. Secondly, Professor. Dr. dr. Asep Sukohar, S.Ked., M.Kes., Vice Rector, University of Lampung (UNILA) gave the opening remarks.
After that, Professor Dr. Karomani, Rector of University of Lampung (UNILA), and the Chairperson of TREPSEA 2021gave the opening speech.
After that, Professor Hein Mallee Director of Regional Center for Future Earth in Asia, Kyoto, Japan & Deputy Director-General of Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, Kyoto, Japan gave his keynote speech, followed by Professor Bambang S Brodjonegoro, Professor of Economics, University of Indonesia, and Dr. Alue Dohong, Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry, The Republic of Indonesia gave their keynote speeches respectively.
A total of approximately 600 participants including academic researchers and students, as well as non-academic stakeholders from five countries: 1) Indonesia, 2) Japan, 3) Malaysia, 4) Myanmar, and 5) Ecuador attended this TREPNEP three-day conference: 204 on the first day; 157 on the second day; and 234 on the third day.
Initially, 256 submitted articles were received, however only 116 were chosen to present at this conference after being filtered using criteria.
